Gerald Zuhal Oliver* was born to Daniel & Sumra Oliver last Monday, 20 August. His four sisters welcomed him to their Lahore home with Qur-an recitations, smiles and kisses.
Gerald Zuhal’s third afternoon on this earth was spent recovering from an emergency surgical procedure to correct a potentially fatal birth defect. His mother Sumra’s vigilance was just in time to save his life.
Although Gerald Zuhal is now relatively stable under pediatric specialist supervision, the solution to his condition requires further tests, examinations, treatments and operations, according to his lead surgeon, over a span of 3-4 months.
Daniel’s insurance does not extend to Gerald Zuhal’s healthcare, so all treatment must be paid in full at admission or discharge. The reality of specialist care, even in Pakistan, is that it is expensive. There are few specialists of the type needed, and it was a mercy that he was in hospital rather than leave on the day of the operation.
The main goal of this Go Fund Me is to make sure baby Gerald can proceed with his treatment regimen unimpeded, for the sake of his health, and the happiness of his family; that family of course, is you, united with us in your faith and humanity.
*Gerald Zuhal takes his first name from his father’s father. Zuhal, his middle name, is an Arabic name of the distant planet Saturn.
