Climate change is causing the North Pole’s location to drift, owing to subtle changes in Earth’s rotation that result from the melting of glaciers and ice sheets.

The influx of fresh water from shrinking ice sheets also causes the planet to pitch over.

The newly redistributed mass will also make our planet to spin faster.

Canada’s Stolen Generations

Between 1955 and 1985, thousands of aboriginal children were taken from their homes by child welfare authorities without the consent of their parents. Under the cover of child protection, they were “adopted out” to white families or placed in non-indigenous foster homes. To ensure they never came back, death certificates were issued expunging any record of their aboriginal existence.

Beardy can’t say exactly how many children were scooped. No one knows. The Assembly of First Nations estimates 16,000 infants and children were uprooted. Some aboriginal groups put the number as high as 20,000.

Most of the adoptees — now in their 40s and 50s — are unaware of their aboriginal heritage and have no connection to their biological parents — exactly as Ottawa and the provinces intended.
Luckily a few remember.

SOME Native Americans Have West Eurasian Origins

The arm bone of a three-year-old boy from the Mal’ta site near the shores of Lake Baikal in south-central Siberia (map) yielded what may be the oldest genome of modern humans ever sequenced.

DNA from the remains revealed genes found today in western Eurasians in the Middle East and Europe, as well as other aspects unique to Native Americans, but no evidence of any relation to modern East Asians. (Related: “Is This Russian Landscape the Birthplace of Native Americans?”)

A second individual genome sequenced from material found at the site and dated to 17,000 years ago revealed a similar genetic structure.

It also provided evidence that humans occupied this region of Siberia throughout the entire brutally cold period of the Last Glacial Maximum, which ended about 13,000 years ago.

There Are 3 South Poles, So Which One Did Prince Harry Reach?

The geographic south pole is the place where all the lines of longitude converge in the Southern Hemisphere.

The pole your compass points toward when you head south is the magnetic south pole. That pole suffers from a case of wanderlust, moving northwest toward Australia at six to nine miles (10 to 15 kilometers) per year.

The magnetic south pole is defined by where Earth’s magnetic field lines come vertically out of the surface of the Earth. Since the field is generated by the rotation of Earth’s fluid core, it doesn’t always stay in the same place. (Read about how researchers track the magnetic south pole.)

And then there’s the ceremonial south pole, which has been set aside for photo opportunities.
